Wireless Switch and Cleanup

I didn’t spend much time today working on the truck, but I did get the wireless switch installed and tested.

It supports four channels and seems to work at least 150ft away! I’m extremely impressed with the range and the entire contraption for only $20. I’m only using one channel for now, the one for the radios, but may decide later to hook some lights or something to the others. In the photos, the grey wires indicate the channel I’m using. The switch is a black box that has red and black leads coming out of it, for +/-, and eight wires of in four colors. When a channel is activated, a relay inside the box switches on so that there is continuity between both wires of that channel’s color. Wiring is still a little bit of a mess, but I’ll clean it up once everything is in there.

I wired one of the grey wires to the +12v side of the battery, and the other is going to a diode that will be connected to the trigger inputs on the harness I worked on last night.

I also started looking for where I’m going to stuff all the relays and wires from the harness when I pull it into the engine compartment. I found that the relays for the Morimoto HID install were taking up a lot of valuable room, so I unbolted them from the body and zip tied them to some wires below, freeing up plenty of room for the harness.
